I can’t reproduce your case, cause I would need the same Video converter you use.
Besides the new Kodi version you also might have installed the latest Raspbian version?
I was thinking maybe there’s something different to the Video out defaults.
You might want to check HDMI settings in your config.txt file. There are a lot of settings!
